After having been influenced to watch several videos on www.youtube.com of wedding proposals; I decided to discuss the RESPECT of MARRIAGE. Of course this actually started to give me a little bit of an itch to want to be able to propose to the love of my life someday. Well now that I have that itch I decided to figure out what the meaning of MARRIAGE used to be and what it is today. If you look in a dictionary you will see that MARRIAGE is the legal union of a MAN and WOMAN as HUSBAND and WIFE.
Where else is there to turn when it comes to MARRIAGE, but the bible? One of the best ways to describe what a MARRIAGE is from the bible perspective is the bible passage: Matthew 19:5-6. It says: “And that a MAN should leave his father and mother, and be forever united to his WIFE. The two shall become one—no longer two, but one! And no MAN may divorce what God has joined together. The MAN should leave his father and mother, that in itself speaks volume by itself. In order to have a successful MARRIAGE when the two come together as one, they should always keep their relationship connected with God to ensure that they are fulfilling his purpose for the ONE unit of love.
MARRIAGE is about give and take. In life before you are married you don’t make your mind on all the decisions that are presented before you right away. So why would you do that when your decision can affect more than just you on the immediate front. Next time in a MARRIAGE when making a decision or just having a discussion where the situation needs a give/ take refer to Christ and pray about the situation.
If in a MARRIAGE the give and take does not work and you feel as though both individuals have put their full effort into the situation, NEVER EVER let the situation get to any sort of physical, mental, or emotional abuse. It is never acceptable in a relationship for any form of abuse to occur. No HUSBAND or WIFE should ever get to the point of abusing their spouse because you are only abusing yourself, being that you are ONE.
Jesus says the only time that a MARRIAGE may end is when there is marital unfaithfulness. And even then I believe that should not be a valid reason to end a MARRIAGE, because we need to learn to practice forgiveness. God forgives us on a daily basis for the sins we commit against him and we should be able to forgive our spouse at least one time. Now if the spouse has a habit of committing adultery, then the situation most likely should result in divorce, because you married that human being to be with them and only them.
The moral of this story is RESPECT MARRIAGEand all that comes with the territory of it.
